Hello & Welcome:
1.27.2026. Blog #1: My Journey as a Stay at Home Mom: From Surviving to Thriving:
My name is Laura, I’m a mom to two teens, a wife, daughter, sister, niece, auntie, friend, and life coach—many roles I cherish. I love quiet moments, and I’m that person happily driving with the radio off. My favorite part of the day is walking through my neighborhood, listening to the birds, watching sunlight dance on the leaves, and feeling the breeze on my face. Last year, my daughter and I started a new tradition of being Sunset Chasers. We love to go to our favorite spot and take a photo of the sun setting. It is peaceful to watch the sunset. We love to share our sunset photos with our loved ones. However, these days it’s Winter here in the Northeast, when we are out running late afternoon photos we will go check out our favorite spot. The temperatures have been in the teens & it’s freezing outside. We are due for an another Snowstorm this weekend. I will need to get my steps acclompished in a different way. I have since learned over the years, through coaching that self-care is not just massages & pedicures. It is NOT selfish. It is important to me to prioritize my daily self-care routine. It grounds me and brings me clarity, gives me energy to live my life with purpose and authentically.
A little background about my career, I have my associates degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been a nanny, worked as a teacher assistant in a Kindergarten classroom, and then learned on the job training to become a dental assistant for ten years, until I became a Mom. Being a stay at home Mom is one of my life’s greatest accomplishments. I decided to stay home & raise my two children. I was thankful that I was able to do so. I have been home room Mom & volunteered at their school for many years while my children were in elementary school. Once my children reached middle school & high school my teens needed me much less. They still need me, we have the best talks. I enjoy being with my children. They are kind, respectful, fun, creative, strong & resilient teenagers. I now have more time to work on me. I have been the Vice President on Special Education Parent & Teacher Association. I have volunteered as a Parent Member for the last few years for our school’s CSE meetings. I have noticed as a Mom our self care routine is sacred. We need to be sure that we take care of ourselves. It’s not selfish to protect our peace & energy and establish boundaries.
I received my dual certification from the Health Coach Institute ~ Transformational Health and Life Coaching program in October 2023. Choosing this program felt like a full-circle moment: it was the same certification my former life coach and energy healer, Coach R, completed before working with me. I love witnessing transformations in others when they choose a new habit to establish in the next , 90 days. I was once the client & now I get to coach others.
My self-care journey began in 2020, when I started working with my first health coach. This was my first experience of choosing to be 24 hours without my phone!! What an eye opening experience that was! It was a taste of what was to come in my journey. (I will write another blog post about my Sacred Screen-Free Sundays.) My first health coach who eventually left private coaching, which led me to my Joy Coach, J @shejustglows on instagram, whom I have followed for many years & still do. My work with Coach @shejustglows helped me reclaim my Joy Formula & live my life with clarity. I have been a part of an all women coaching community membership for several years. It is a group coaching style. I am still a part of this group, the master life coach who leads this community has monthly themed topics. This community has given me self-confidence, mindset shifts & self-image inner work. After a while, I wanted something more personal which led me back to working with my 1:1 life coach. I began coaching with Coach R, and WOW—that truly opened me up! Through her sessions and energy work, I discovered just how sensitive I am to energy. I learned firsthand that life is energy, that it’s always around us, and that I naturally sense whether someone is an energizer or an energy drainer. Because of this, I often need to retreat and reset on my own. I receive weekly Reiki sessions that help me rebalance my chakras and ground my energy. I did notice that whenever I would take pauses from being coached, I would miss the support & accountability. These are two major factors in successful life coaching programs, to reach my goals successfully. After I finished working with Coach R. I hired a sober & biz coach, Heather Lowe, founder of Ditched the Drink for a year of coaching, support & accountability. I even joined a Mastermind! That was fun & expansive! Part of my self-care goal for 2024: I wanted to live alcohol Free for 365 days for better sleep, reduce my anxiety & for my overall well-being. (I will do a blogpost about this fantastic life experience.) I did it!!! And, I chose to keep track until 420th evening alcohol free! I quit counting and chose to live intentionally, exactly where I thrive. 🌻
So often as a Mom, we may think having a glass of wine is Just what we need to enjoy a quick pause in our current busy or stressful life situations. It is such a lie! What I needed was a break, rest, or do something fun or creative just for me!! I’m a forever student. I am always improving and learning. Each year, since 2021, I chosen one HUGE, Extraordinary Goal each year, that scares me & helps me grow! My goal for 2026, is to launch my own Website by tomorrow and Podcast for Moms by June!
This past year, my Business goal was to start my own podcast by the end of December 2025. Life happened & my BIG goal pivoted. I was okay with this change of direction, & no guilt that I did not achieve my extraordinary goal/EO goal for 2025. I feel grounded & aligned, exactly where I am today. I am leaning into my inner fire, it never leads me wrong. 🔥I had said for 2025, I was not going to hire a life coach this year. Little did I know, an opportunity came along & I hired my biz coach, Kim DiFillippo. It has been an absolute game changer & joy to have her in my corner! Asking me to lean into my inner fire 🔥 & holding me accountable for my life and business goals. Since creating a website is not in my zone of excellence, I hired my Business, Life Coach, & podcast producer, Kim. I tried to create a website by myself last year, soon found out it was way out of my zone of excellence. I gifted myself by hiring someone else to co-create my website with me this past Fall and Winter. It feels in complete alignment to do it this way. Coach Kim is breaking it down the sections, & asking me my preferences. It feels much more manageable. When I tried to do it solo, I often felt stuck & in complete overwhelm. That’s not thriving, that’s being stuck in freeze or flight. It feels like a painting that an artist never finishes. I will keep building my business one seed at a time.
If you are reading this blogpost then, my Website is LIVE! 🚀
Every chapter of my journey has changed me—and it’s why I felt called to become a Life coach myself: to share what transformed my life with others. Our life experiences are as unique as our fingerprints. I am here to coach you along your life’s path, & help you transform your life goals into reality. I want to help you go from surviving to thriving as a Mom. I get it, motherhood is not for the faint of heart! This is something my younger sister said to me when my firstborn arrived home from the hospital almost 18 years ago this week! I will never forget that moment. My sister is raising five sons, so she gets it!
Comfort will keep you stuck; clarity will set you free. If you’re ready for more than just surviving, I’d be honored to support you on a free 30-minute clarity call.
Grateful for every reader here, choosing presence, purpose, and possibility. 🌻
“Comfort will keep you stuck; clarity will set you free.” 🌻Coach Laura
