Reclaim Your Inner Fire

Why is it important to listen to your Inner Fire? It is your internal life-force vitality. It is your deepest passion within you—the driving force that fuels your heart, moves your body, and inspires your soul. It helps you live your best life with purpose and authenticity. Your Inner Fire also gives you the courage to set boundaries, say “no” without guilt, and choose alignment over approval. When you are connected to it, you trust yourself and live from a place of truth rather from obligation. This is something I have become aware of and embraced as an adult, daughter, sister, wife, mom, caregiver, friend and coach.

However, it can be dimmed by others if you allow your family, friends or society to overly influence your decisions. When you are connected to it, you trust yourself and live from a place of truth rather than obligation.

I invite you to turn inward instead of seeking approval from others. Seeking external validation of our choices rarely leads to fulfillment. True satisfaction comes from within. Some of us may have tried to live according to others expectations, only to feel empty and unfilled. When we constantly outsource our decisions to others, we lose connection with our inner guidance. Listening to your Inner Fire helps you reconnect with it, and reclaim your sense of purpose, passion and authenticity.

So what does your Inner Fire feel like in your body?

It often shows up as a warm sensation within you- a feeling that you are being called toward your true self or gently guided away from something that no longer feels aligned. It can also show up like a strong feeling in your body when something feels off. Your body often recognizes the truth before your mind does. When you trust yourself, and listen to your Inner Fire, you begin to set the standard for how you live your life with purpose, authenticity and self-respect.

You might ask: how do I reignite my Inner Fire? Let’s take a quiet moment and do a mindfulness exercise:

  • Find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably.

  • Make sure you are not driving or distracted.

  • Place your feet gently on the floor,  so you feel grounded

  • Close your eyes

  • Inhale through your nose or mouth slowly for a count of 4

  • Exhale through your mouth slowly and say, “ha” for a count of 4

  • And repeat this cycle two more times slowly

  • Let your inhale breath increase your energy

  • Let your exhale breath release the tension, let it go…

  • Return to Natural breathing flow

  • Open your eyes

Quietly think about the answers to the following questions below:

(If you’d like to journal, consider writing down the questions and freely explore your answers without judgement.)

Can I feel my inner fire?

Is it blazing brightly, full of energy and vitality?

Or, is it just a small flicker, asking for attention and care?

What excites me and makes me feel truly alive?

If I had no fear right now, what would I be pursuing instead?

How can I nurture my energy instead of depleting it?

Am I living my life in alignment with my core values?

What does a meaningful life look and feel like to me?

Lastly, What is one small step you can take today to reignite your  inner flame?

Your Inner Fire helps you create healthy boundaries around your time, your energy, and your emotional well-being. Boundaries are set in place by you, not by others. It is a boundary of what you will allow into your life—and what you will no longer accept. Most importantly, your Inner Fire gives you the courage to live as your authentic self.

So, protect it. Nurture it. Listen to it. Because the world does not need a dimmed version of who you are. It needs the fully alive, courageous, authentic person you were always meant to be—burning brightly from within.
